E-Safety

E-Safety at Marwood School

At Marwood School, we prioritise the safety and well-being of our students, both offline and online. In today’s digital age, teaching e-safety is essential, and we are proud to integrate this crucial aspect into our Computing and STEM curriculum (the scheme we follow is called Purple Mash).

Our Approach to E-Safety

  1. Comprehensive Curriculum: The Purple Mash Computing curriculum provides a structured and engaging approach to teaching e-safety. It covers a wide range of topics, including online privacy, cyberbullying, digital footprints, and safe internet practices.

  2. Interactive Learning: Through interactive lessons and activities, students learn how to navigate the digital world safely. Purple Mash offers a variety of resources that make learning about e-safety both fun and informative.

  3. Real-World Scenarios: We use real-world scenarios to help students understand the potential risks and how to respond appropriately. This practical approach ensures that they are well-prepared to handle online challenges.

  4. Parental Involvement: We believe that e-safety education extends beyond the classroom. We provide resources and workshops for parents to help them support their children’s online safety at home.

  5. Continuous Reinforcement: E-safety is not a one-time lesson but an ongoing conversation. We regularly reinforce e-safety principles through assemblies, classroom discussions, and special events.

Why E-Safety is Important

  • Protecting Personal Information: Teaching students how to protect their personal information online helps prevent identity theft and other cybercrimes.

  • Preventing Cyberbullying: By understanding the impact of their online actions, students learn to interact respectfully and responsibly, reducing the risk of cyberbullying.

  • Building Digital Resilience: E-safety education helps students develop the skills to recognise and respond to online threats, making them more resilient digital citizens.

  • Promoting Positive Online Behaviour: Encouraging positive online behaviour fosters a safe and supportive digital community for all users.

At Marwood School, we are committed to providing our children with the knowledge and skills they need to stay safe online. Through the Purple Mash Computing curriculum, we ensure that e-safety is an integral part of their education, preparing them for a connected world.

Ventrus MAT

Ventrus (formerly The Primary Academies Trust) was set up in 2011 by a group of like minded headteachers who wanted to build a stable and secure platform from which they could grow a network of excellent schools.
